I am writing this copy of my Grandma Bird's Diary for my cousins and anyone else who would be interested in it. It is copied exactly as she wrote it. She was actually reminiscing from old days..don't know when she officially started her diary
I was borned at Robinson Creek KY Jan 10th 1890. The family came to Mossrock Washin in Dec 1909 to Uncle Bill Englands mommas bro. She staid there for a few weeks, then we bought a place of Harvey Davis 12 1/2 acres $1,100. All the kids was home but Lillie she was teaching school at Salkum and then Ajune
Floyd was coming up to see Lillie he was working in the woods. with Geo for Ed Lester at Ashlock above Peel. George wrote me a letter and wanted to come up with Floyd to see me. So I told him he could. He and Floyd came up the 4th of July came in a horse and buggy from Chehalis. After he went home he wrote me a letter and I didn't answer it.
Lillie and Floyd was married and lived at Mc Cormick. and I went to visit them and the first person i met was George. I was going with Bill Cones at that time. So Geo and I was Married May 22nd 1912. We was married at Chehalis and I staid at The Washington Hotel a few days then we bought our furniture and moved to aslock in a little shack. Lillie and floyd and george and I would go to Peell every sat and sunday night to a show they was no where else to go they was no road thru there then on the train was the only way to go.
Tommy Chrisitianson was the only one had phonograph we would all go up there and listen to it. Later we bought one from my dad paid him $1.00 for it.
Mallie and Lillie was married and staid with us for a while.
Christmas Dec 25 1912 we went to Mossyrock and Euell was borned while we was up there.
Raymond was borned at Raymond on March 19th 1913 I was there 12 days before and 12 after. Floyed was in the same hospital with pneumonia he nearly died he left the hospital before Raymond was borned.
Lillie had a big camera and we had lots of fun taking the baby's pictures, then we would develop them oursleves.
Euell nearly died with pneumonia when he was a few weeks old, they didn't think he would live till they got him to the hospital
Gorge and I went to Montana when Raymond was 6 months old but didn't stay long, couldn't find no place to line
In 1914 we moved to Mossyrock on the Parker Place across from the Hop House. we milked from 12 to 14 cows Kennith and Grattie Came out from West Virginia they stayed there all winter at Thanksgiving Harry and Effie and 3 kids came out there they came up on stage from chehalis. They staied about a week. it didn't snow all Winter Came a frost at night and nice all day had no more snow all Winter. Elma was borned January 5th 1915 at home Dr Botzer and Mrs Elliot was there kenneith and Grattie was with us then. Vernell was borned at Mammas when Elma was 2 weeks old. Kenneth bought and ol Maxwell Car. He took us to a Christmas Program had no top top over it. It was pouring snow and the car stopped and we had to get Cisero davis to bring us home had a lot of fun.(

July 4th We had a picnic in the grove by Neil Mc Murrays
1916 Warren was borned at home Mrs Shaner was the Dr Dr. Botzer was gone. Clara staid with me John and Golden was married.
1917 We moved to Montesano George worked for Ed Lester then we moved to North River at Vesta we was one of the first families to move there we lived with Golden and John. till they built our house they build a store and shingle mill lots of soldiers there.
1918 Nov 6 Faye was borned at home had an army Dr and Mrs Ira Hatfield Bessie Williamson done my work for me. Warren had pneumonia while I was in bed had the army dr for him. Elma was sick tool.
Nearly everybody had the flu whole families died with it. George was sick too when Faye was 6 weeks old we went to Seattle on the train went to Gratties they was all sick with the flue

Mead, ( Grandpa Curry's brother and wife) Eva and Grandma Curry was there just came from West Virginia the first time I ever saw them.
We moved in a shack on the hill across from Mallie he later sold to Bill Cones

We staid there about 6 monthes. Bill sold the hotel to Uncle Tiv England and they moved in. Everygreen berris was 13@ lb? We rented Bill Swigerts ranch and movedup there in Dec. It was so cold and snowing water forze the nearby (

In the Spring raliegh came out from West Virginea He staid with us quite awhile.Mead and Eva came from Seattone on vacationand bathced in the shack across from Mallie's up the Hill.No body had cars then. Julian and Warren was boating onenight and Warren broke his arm.. Blake and Louise had a fight and he came out here and staid all summer. Harry and Effie came out Blake went home later and him and louise got married.We bought 40 acres of Dad Damron paid $2000. later sol it for 3500.
June 13 1921
Margie was borned at home (
my MOM)Mrs Orsband was my Dr.Dr. Botzer was gone (
was he ever there ) Was no one there but George. but Lillie came soon.George and John were cutting brush on the hill back of barn. It was such a nice day. I cooked diner but didn't get the dishes done.(the same day she had mom?? Clara staid with me. Golden and John lived on Ed Swigert's place then
We rented our place to Ed Swigert and moved to Walvill. George worked in the woods. He got his arm and hand broke he got $300. from the state for his finger being out of place. We lived in the back of the school house first then we moved near town. We didn't stay there very long George got a job as fire warden at Mc Cormick Wheeler(
Grandma's Brother lived by us, he was working at Mc Cormick then. They had a big
fire then.
Then we moved to Pe Ell first in the little house down town then we bought 7 acres of Slim miller paid $1300. for it. We lived there about a year then sold it back to Slim for the same price.
April 1924
George was tending hook getting $10.00 a day We bought us a new Model T Ford car paid $700. for it.
The kids have the measles
George staid at camp most the time We would go to the show every Saturday and Sunday night
Warren Had the mumps and we wanted to go to the show thinking no one would know. Margie
(My Mom Was very small then climbed up on the seat and looked back over the crowd and hollered Fattie has the Mumps (Warren's nickname) Fattie has the mumps..
Raleigh brought Bess down from camp she was working in the cook house the first time I ever saw her.
May 1924 I was sick and went to Chehalis to see a Dr. and he told me I had to have an operation. So we went to Seattle and Dr Theil told me the same. So Ivan operated on May 1st. George and kids staid at Gratties days.
George ved our things over from Pe Ell to Mossyrock while I was in the hospital. Bernice Smitter staid with me.
Faye was in the orthopedic Hospital about 2 months..(
my Aunt Faye had poked her eye out somehow so awful) but Gramma didn't mention what happened Not long after that she had her arm broke at the wrist Gorden Belecher threw her off a barrel at school.
Not long after that the kids were getting ready for school and Warren was pouring hot water of out of the tea kettle in a wash pan and spilt hot water on Faye's leg from her knee to her shoe top it was a solid blister (
How did Faye survive her childhood?) Warren got a licking (poor uncle warren)
George worked for Saganaw a while then he decided to move to Myrtle Point Oregon rented our place to Grover Slaton.
Justin Whistler moved us in the truck load of our furniture turned over at Mary's Corner, Raymond and Warren was in it. Was no damage done. We first moved in a house back of Perkins Drug Store.All the kids had the small pox. Raymond First taken them got them at school. I first thought it was itch greased him with sulphur and lard then found out it was small pox. didn't hurt any only Elma and I was an awful sight. Then we moved outside of town in a big house paid $25.00 a month rent. George was filing saw for Power and Light company. I had the best time of my life go to show and Churches nothing to worry about. Raymond Elma and I was baptized in the Christian Church Maxie and Ed came to see several times. One Sunday we all went to Bandon to a church doing they all had dinner together at supper we had apple pie. Ed went to go get ice cream and put on our warm pie it was so good. We lived close to Ben Hatfield and Georgie. we kept house for them and milked the cows for them. While they came to Mossyrock. to see Uncle Tiv who was sick and later died.
Then we rented a big house on the hill from Horace Warner paid $25.00 a month rent just stayed one month moved back to town and rented nice little house $20.00 a month, had a fireplace.
We bought another new car 1929 Ford Model A $900.Christmas Maxie Ed and Raymond went to Mossyrock in Ed's old Ford they nearly froze it was so cold up there and snowing. It was almost like summer here in Myrtle Point.
In January George took a notion to move back to Mossyrock. Marion Crismon was living in our house and he didn't want to move out. So we had to move in Dad's old house.across from the Post Office. (later burnt down) It was so cold a big snow on the ground we nearly froze
We sold our place in August. we rented the home place of Dad and lived there a few months and the house and everything we had burnt up the kids didn't have a thing only what they had on at school.
Poor Grandma sounds like she really loved Myrtle Point.
Warren played hookey that day we just got through paying 328. for a piano. had just bought new rugs and curtain etc. We had no insurance. The neighbors gave us a shower enough to start house keeping again. We just put up a couple of tents and it rained all the time. Then we rented Lundy Adkins place 101 acres paid $250. for rent.
The Mossyrock Gym burnt before ours did So the Graduation Class had to go to Silver Creek for their exercise Raymond Graduated with the. We just bought him a new shirt he only wore it once when he had his picture made. The Mossrock Basket ball team was ahead so they had to go to Winlock to play Pe Ell for the championship. Raymond was one of the good players he made a long shot from the center and it was good and the rest tried it and lost the game.
The back of this picture says Leonard thomas and Ann Damron and Lilly is on their lap, so this would be my Great Grandma and Grandpa Damron

We was milking 12 or 14 cow Goerge and Raymond went to North River to run a tie mill
1933 Elma went over to work in the cookhouse for Saginaw she gota month.
Elma and Paul were married in Montesano Oct 26 1933
We sold all of our cows and calves to Ben Hatfiled for $15.00 each.We moved to Vesta Wash in Dec 1933. We moved in Mrs Lynons place paid $5.00 a month rent. We had high water The water came up to the door the borrowed a boat and had lots of fun.
1935 Ronald was born (FIRST GRANDCHILD) at the St Josephs Hosptial June 28th 1934 Ed Mc Dude was working for George on the tie mill and Faye went over and stayed with Maxie. and went to school in Centralia. We bought a new davenport and Chair $98.00 and a wool rug for $40.00
We moved to Brooklyn in Mrs Andersons House below camp $10.00 a month rent
Kenneth Adams wored on the tie mill. He Stayed with us.

Raymond was running the cat for the mill and got his foot caught in the cat some way and had to walk on crutches for sometime. Bob Hatfiled came and sawed for him. We moved in camp our rent$14/00 includes wood, light and wter all complete
We bought a new cookstove $50.00 and a sewing machine $20.00
1936 Ronald had measels and it settled in his ears causing him to have a mastoid opeation April 8th 1935
May 22 1936 Donna was born at St Joseph Hopstila Raymond and Melithan lived in a a camp house then moved to the tile mill.
1937 January 26 Marilyn was born at Mrs Johnsons home.

July 3 George Warren and Margie I went to Chehalis Warren got with Gilbet and he wanted him to go to Portland with him. George, Margie I went on to Mossyrock and stayed all night with Momma.
July 4th
George, Margie and Maxie and Eddie and I went to the Hot Springs today, took our lunch all had a good bath at the Spring s(HOT SPRINGS AT MOSSYROCK WHO KNEW?)
Had to most fun I ever had on the 4th. We came by Morton they was celebrating there we came back to Mammas that night.
July 5th
George Margie and I came home by Pe Ell and on by Raymond they was celebrating there we stayed there awhile and then came home.

August 8th
Mossyrock played North River score North River 0 Mossyrock 6 Mossyrock got mad it rained and spoiled the game.

I stayed with Momma all week.
12 Elma and Fay came after me.
APRIL Delia and Loran came over form Mossyrock It rained so the men came in from work. I papered the front wroom
17 Elma, Paul Fay and Bud was here for dinner. It rained all day
23 I got a permanent $2.50 Got a new radio $69.75 General Electric
warren went fishing caugh 6 one was 16 inches long.Elma and I papered the kitchen.
MAY
Fay and I went to Mossyrock with Mallie Warren, Clara, Maxie and Lillie were at Mamma's for dinner.
9 Mother and Daughter Banquet Raymond cut his arm.
12 Had a baby shower on Fay at Mrs Dallies
15 Rayond lived over at the tie mill a bunch wen tover ther eto look for Bernard Thaxtons girl she ran off.
19 The men went on strike
24 Paul went to Oregon. Kenneth rattie Mead and Eva Floyd and Lillie came over.
Grandma Stayed
18th Went to Montesano to play ball.
22 Maxie and Vernell came over.
NR played the Rayond Cougars Raymond made 20 points 18 in the last half I made Donna a coat.
25 North River Girls (Grandma Midge) played. Got Beat 9 to 7
26 Bud and faye went to town with us. Bud was driving a log truck ran into us and tore a fender off of our tan Ford.

Ronald stuck a pussy willow up his nose and had to take him to Dr in Town.
28 Jack and Vernonia White found their baby dead in bed. Men didn't work an inch of snow on the ground and still snowing. Elma moved in where Hank White did live by Tom Pearsons. I quilted Sandy a baby quilt. Mallie moved back to Mossyrock.
JUNE 2 The strike ended The men went back to work. Ronald had measles
6th Paul and Elma both sick and I stayed all day with them. Elma had tonsilitis the men got thru with the tie mill. Grandma Curry went home with Mallie.
13th Margies 17th birthday I got her a locket
15 Took Elma in had her tonsils lanced (SOUNDS PAINFUL)
16th Fay and Baby was born at St Joseph. Weiged 5 pounrs Sandra Gale.

30 Warren killed a deer and Bud and Paul went with him to get it. Dark caugh up with them and they had to lay out in the rain all night got home 7 next morning No Coat or Hat
July 1st
Canned 12 quarts of Deer Meat.
3 George Warren and I went up on the speeder and got 13 gallons of little blackberries
11 George and I picked 3 gallons of berries and sold them to the meat man for $2.40
JULY 13th Warren and Macy sold $7.00 worth of beries. Not working on account of Hot Weather. We sold $25.00 worth of berries.for 65. a gallon
24th Donna got her finger caught in the car door and nearly cut it off had to take her to town to the Dr.
AUGUST 4th George went to work on the WPS Canned 12 quarts of meat.
9th Warren's 22nd birthday. Golden andJohn and all the kids was here for supper.
14 We all went to Cheahlis to see North River play Boisford NR was beat 7 to 2
15 Gilbert, Warren and taylor and George went hunting.
20 Golden andI went to Aberdeen to meet Mom
SEPT 10th Leornard Brown got his leg broke in a car wreck
12 Men went out on strike
13 Men went bak to work.

25 Dad's 83rd birthday
OCTOBER Rayond, Warren and Bud went hunting got a 187 pound Deer.
12 Rained so hard the men quit workl
16 Raleigh and Bess came over
26th George's Birthday Rauby made him a cake
28 The Men got laid off.
30 Paul and Bud had a fight.
31 The big crane went through the bridge and nearly killed Bud (BUD IS PETE AND SANDY"S DAD) They took him to the hospital. We taken Fay in she stopped in town and I kept Sandy.
NOVEMBER
George, Warren and Raymond worked on the wreck getting the crane out
7th Golden and I went to Mossyrock to see Mamma she was very bad today, they took her to the hopstial in Morton.
8th They started the tie Mill
9th Golden and I went to Morton to see Mamma she was a little beter we had dinner at Carrie's and Ira Roberts. we met Raymond at Chehalis he had been down to Raleighs to get barber tools.
10 Raymond went to Seattle with Jim Kimmerman he is taking the barbar course
13 We taken Sandy in to see Bud and Faye came home with us.
16th Golden and I went to Mossyrock we brought Mama home from the Morton Hosptial.
22 raymond came home from Seattle to work a few days
27The boys killed 2 deer
29 Raymond went back to Seattle.
30 Bud came home from the hospital hast to walk on Cructches one leg has no feeling in it.
Christmas Kids was all home for Christmas
28 Raymond and Melitha went to Seattle, Donna stayed with me
JANUARY
4th Rachel's Birthday (who my Rachel is named after)
5 Elma's birthday all the kids was here for dinner.
6th Melitha and her Mom came and got Donna will stay at Bells while Raymond is going to Barber School
8Th Mallies birthday. I sent him a Chinese Checker Game. I quilted a quilt "Sun Bonnet Girl"
9 Warren and Bud went on Doe Heaven
10 My Birthday and I quilted all day.
17 Richard and Dorothy brought Melitha home.
18 Raymond came home from Seattle
19 Bud and faye went to Onalaska
20 Marilyn 2nd Birthday

2nd Snowing
5 George and Warrren and I went up to Elma and Paul's for supper. Golden John Raymond and Melithan went to see a show "Jessie James"
7th Melitha's birthday we all had dinner at Elma and Paul's
8th 1 1/2 inches of snow Raymond and Jerrie killed a deer.
9th Snowed all day. Plenty of snow.
11 We went to a show Stand Up and Fight. Mildred Reams came home with us.
23 Melitha and Donna went to Seattle
MARCH
1st Men didn't work Monday. Warren got an electric razor for $15.00
11 Went to a show "Beach Comber"
14 Men went on a strike.
15 Raymond and Melitha came home from Seattle
19 Raymond's birthday all the kids was home.
20 George and I went to Pacific Beach stayed all night at Clara's
28 Raymond and Melitha are working at Troutdale Ranch
APRIL
10th had a birthday party on Golden.
11 The men still on Strike they had an all day meeting.
23 Dallis taken George and I to a show."Jessie Jamer" Strike Ended
24th The Tie Mill started.
28th Paul and Elma moved down by Andy Devine
29th Raymond moved to the tie mill. We went to town Margie spent $30. for dress suit ect for graduation.
MAY
6th Warren Borden was operated on for rupture. Margie went to track meet. had a big fire at North Went camp. I canned 32quarts of meat very hot.
14th Mothers Day I sent my Momther and George's Mother a pair of silk stockings.
15th Went on Hoot Owl very hot.
21 Mead and Eva and Gramma Currie came over
22 Our 27th Wedding Anniversary and Donnas Birthday
JUNE
1st Golden and John's Anniversary.
4 Normand's Birthday
Ben and Georgie came over . The Men finished at the tie mill Bud and Warren went fishing.
9th Gilberts Birthday
12 George and I went to Mossyrock we borugh momma back to Lillie's.
12 Bought 5 gallons of strawberries of lillie. 50 cents a gallon I made 24 pints of jam. Margie worked for Macie.
21 George went to work for Saginaw
Sunday Had a ball game Grange beat Saginaw
28th Ronald had a birthday party.
JULY 6th Margie and Alice went to Wasco Oregon.Mr and Mrs Dixon Paul Uncle from Oklahoma and Alice came. We all went to the Beach we taken our lunch.
15th Raymond moved in the orchard by Kimmerman.
18th Paul's birthday We had cake and ice cram . I went with Raymond and Warren up on the North West to get a deer. kenneth and Grattie came.
AUGUST 11 We went to town and traded our Ford in and got Buick.
13 Warren went to Doe Heaven got a deer.
18th Shut the tie mill down.
19th George and Warren Midge and I started on a trip. We came to lillie's for dinner. We borrowed a gallon thermas water bottle from her. We went on to Raleigh's that night.
20th We left Raleighs had dinner at La Grande Oregon It was so HOT. We stayed all night at Ira Roberts at Union Oregon.
21 Left Ira's had dinner at Ontario Oregon.and stayed all night at American Falls Idaho
22 We went to Yellowstone park We went ? Can't read miles into park to our cabins they were $2/.25 per night
23 We left Old Faithfl in Yellowstone and on to Casper Wyonming stayed in a double cabing. $2.00 We went through a desert almost 100 miles long.
24 Left Casper at 7 to Holdring Nebraska 489 miles. Cabins $2.00/ Warren swiped an electric fan.
25th Left Holdring at 6 got to Blakes in kansas City about 5 was real hot.
26 Blake and Louise George and I looked over the town. Warren Marge and Louises sister went to town.
27th We all went for a ride to Leavens Worth pen and Lansing.
28 Harry Grimm took all of the family out to dinner It cost him 1.50 a plate $20. in all.
The Men had to wear their coats and the woman had to wear hats. We almost burnt up while we was eating it was so hot then we went to Blakes and had watermelons.
29th We all went to the top of The Power Light Plant Then we went through the cutaway packing plant it was so hot.
30th Harry taken us out to dinner again. Then we went up to Ruth's for awhile.
31 Thursday we started for home left around 9 o'clock got to Dodge City 366 miles. and stayed all night cabins cost $1.50
SEPTEMBER
Left Dodge City came to Boise City 179 miles stayed all nigth at Harold Dixons, Paul's Uncle, Alice was there. The wind was blowing terrible and so hot. That night we went out to Dixons Ranch to a party had quite a time they made ice cream.
2nd We left Dixons and Alice came with us to her Mother's in Canon City. Mrs Magruder was so tickeled to see us. After supper we went up town. Warren ran the car over the Railroad and done something to it. Cost$2.00 to have it fixed
3 we had chicken dinner then we all went up the Royal Gorge and over the sky line could see all over then we came down and looked around the pentiantory.
4th They had a labor day celebration in Canan City parade racing, boxing ect. it was so hot you could hardly stand it.
5th We all went to the old Indian Grave Yards and to the museum and I got Margie a pair of slacks $2.00 We sure had a swell time at Mrs Magruders.Had the best peaches I ever ate.
6th We started for home left Magruders at 530 got to Springville Utah 507 miles. It rained through Utah stayed all night.
7th Left Springfield got to Reno Nevada about 8. 584 Miles. Cabins were 1.50. Warren went out and looked over the town. George and Midge didn't want to go so I didn't get to go. The place was lit up so pretty. (Mom always felt so bad she didn't walk down there with her Mom)
8th We left Reno and went to San Francisco Fair about 255 miles. we stayed at the fair till 11 and we was so tired and the wind blew so hard nothing looked good so we left. We had to go about 15 miles out to before we found a cabin It cost $2.00 So we didn't go back anymore We got to Fortuna Califonria 165 miles from the fair.
10th We all went for a ride in the redwoods. Vern got a whole crate of cantelopes for 30 cents

10 All the radios went off the air at 215 didn't come on till next morning.
11 Italy and Germany declared war on United States. Radio went off the air we had black out again.

10th My 52nd birthday Raymond Melitha and Warren went fishing. The rest went to town. I kept all the kids Marilyn fell in the pond.
11 Bud, Faye Midge and Ray went to a show, The Thin Man
12 Nice day. Jay cut Ronald's hand with an axe
18 Faye and Bud went back to Oregon. Cliff was here for supper.
19th Midge, Elma, Melithan and I went up in the woods to watch the men work.
20 Midge, Elma, Lorna went up in the woods to watch the men work. Raymond bought a car. I went over to Golden's for dinner. Mrs Gohen and Her mom was there. We went to a Red Cross meeting and I took a pair of pajamas to make Smude bit Ronald clear throught the thumb nail Ronald was taking a stick from him
FEBRUARY
Fay and Elma bought some silverware.
13 Herb King's side shut down he took Gohen's side. Boys went fishing.
15 Kids were here for supper.
16 Warren didn't work went fishing.
27th George Sand and I went home with Herb King. Paul and Elma (she must have meant Earl??)
March
6th Elma Earl and kids I went to Oregon to Fayes got there around 11
We went to Portland then to the park and the show.
George Forst came home from the hosptial.
9 George tending hook for $10.00 a day. Taken Joe the Mule's place.
10 Midge and I got a permanent $4.75
11 Warren went to work.
15 Midge and Ray moved in where Faye lived.
18 Warren got hit in the face. With a line knocked out a tooth. and hurt his lip and skinned his nose.
19th Raymond's birthday Warren RP George and I was up there for supper. Later a bunch came for cake and coffee.
20 Faye and Bud was up from Oregon
21 Bud and Raymond went up to Doe Heaven no luck
22 Faye and Bud went to Oregon and Sandy stayed. Snowing Midge and Elma went to Centralia. Styaed all night Ray and Earl was here for supper. (she says something very personal email me if you want to know)
APRIL
Aunt Golden SO SWEET
4th Warrren went to Seattle to join the Navy.
5th Boys went fishing caught a few.
11 Raymond and Warren went fishing and got some.
12 Warren and Ronald went fishing and the game warden caught them for fishing in a closed stream and out of season. They took his pole. Elma and Earl had a giht Elma didn't come home stayed in town at Mrs. Lemon's. Paul came and went to South Bend to take his 4 for the Army. He didn't pass.
13 Midge and I went to Aberdeen to meet Faye.
16th Raymond had two teeth pulled.
17th Melitha went to her Grandpa's funeral. Raymond and Donna stayed here.
18th The sheriff came up and taken Warren (HOW DARE HE TAKE UNCLE WARREN) to SouthBend He stayed one night in jail they fined him $20.00
19th Elma and I went to South Bend to get Warren they had already had his trial he didn't get his pole back and had $200.00 in his pocket at the time.
22nd Warren and Gilbert went to Seattle to see about the Navy. Bud came up.
they started working 6 days a week. Time and half on Saturday that makes George getting $15.40 a day
Faye and Bud went home. Warren and Gilbert got back from Seattle about 8 he passed the exam for the Navy and now he is waiting for the call. (That must have been so hard on Grandma)
27th Warren worked.
30th Warren got a telegram from The Navy to be in Seattle at noon on Saturday
MAY
1st Midge, Melithan and Donna and I took Warren to Seattle we stopped in Tacoma to see Bud and Alice they lived there we had dinner there. I slept at Grattie's.
2nd Midge, Melitha Donna and Warren and I went to Walt Calibins for awhile then on the federal building at noon.stayed there quite awhile. then we went out for dinner. and went to a show Bob Hope in My Favorite Blonde.He was supposed to leave on the 930 train We sat in the car till time to go. we came home got home at midnight. Warren got me a locket and a card cost $20.00 He drew $465.00 out of the bank and gave it to me.
3rd It rained all day was lonesome without Warren (feel so bad for Gramma) cleaned up his room.
5th Got a card from Warren amiled on the train in Montana. Had a shower for Ruth Greers.
8th George's check was $210.00
10th Mother's Day Elma and Midge gave me a silk blouse powder and cold cream and a pin with Mother on it. Elma Earl Midge Ray went to Winlock. Kay Ed Blake and Jean came from Seattle
18th Got a letter From Warren.
22 Donna's 6th Birthday and our 30th wedding anniversary. Raymond and Melitha bought us a nice cake. Raymojnd caame from work at 839 was working on the train we had jello ice cream and cake Fay and Bud came later they brought us a floor lamp.
24 We had a chicken dinner I got 2 chickens from Hislops. for $2.00
Faye and Bud left for Oregon soon as supper was over. Sandy Stayed
13th Midge's birthday they went to town as soon as they got off work.
14th Poured rain all day Raymond and George went fishing. paul gave me $10.00 for Ronald.
15th It rained from the 15th to the 27th never stopped.
27th Warren came in about 2 o'clock from Bremerton. He went up in the woods the next day, he smashed his finger black.
28th Ronald's birthday We taken pictures Elma, Earl, Raymond and Melitha and I taken Warren to Bremerton. 105 miles to Brooklyn.
29th Gave Ronald a party.
JULY
1 Men in early too hot to work. Elmd and Earl had a fight. Ray Hass got mixed up in it and got his hand hurt and had to go to the hosptial...(DETAILS??)
2nd Faye, Bud, George, Midge and I went to town Midge brought their car home. Ray stayed in the hospital.
3rd Ray came home.
4h About 8 o'clock we got a phone call to meet Warren in Bremerton at 4 . We waited till 7 at the gate, then we went for a ride we all had supper. It was so windy coudln't hardly stand it. We stayed with him till 1230 we got home at 330 Lighting set a big fire at Clemmons.
6th Faye and Bud went ome George had to fight fires.
10 Warren was supposed to leave on a boat to parts unknown. (Shoremont)
11 It rained too hard the men came in. Elma went to work in the cookhouse They moved her furniture up here.
13 On hoot Owl. I canned 32 quarts of berries
14 I canned 6 qt and 14 pints of peas Rained all day.
21 Got a telegram from Warren he is in Alaska.
25th Raymond went fishing. George and Ray Wilder went on to Doe Heaven each got one
AUGUST

3rd Rained and thundered blew out the transformer at Mook Store.
7th Faye and bud came up.
8th We went to a show called Card Board Lover. Robert Fay and Mormer Sheaer
9th Warren's 27th birthda. Faye and Bud went home. George and I went with raymond to fire the big crane.
11 Melitha went to Oakville Raymond was here for dinner. Blake came down from Seattle he is leaving for the Army
16th It was so hot camp was shut down camp the rest of the week.
16th Elma and Earl was up for dinner. They live in Aberdeen. Midge and Ray went to a show.
19th Melitha and I went to Aberdeen, I had Ronald's teeth filled 8 fillings $72.00
22 All the kids were here for supper. Wheeler and I went to Chehalis with Ray.
24 Got up a half hour later men leave camp at 530
SEPT
2nd Labor Day men worked . Rented a deposit box at Chehalis
7th Eggs 52 cents Butter 62 cents Evergreens 50 cents a pound
8th Faye and Sandy came up with Junel
11 Margie Nugent died. (I think this was a good friend of my Mom's) Gave Midge a baby shower at Melitha's faye went home. Sandy stayed. Midge and I took Fay to Aberdeen to meet June.
13 I canned 5 boxes each of peaches. 2.99 a box. Canned 2 boxes for Midge
23 Faye and Bud Came up.
26th Sandy and I got a permanent $6.25 each
george and I went to Chehalis with Clara and Warren.
27th Faye and Bud went home after dinner.
29th had a shower on Dove at Wilder.
30 Goere is sick he taken Midge's car and went to see a Dr.
OCTOBER
Cleaned house. Haven't heard from Warren in 2 week.s
5th the men went hunting went on the speeder at 4 oclcok they got none. Raymond and Charles got a big one each. We taken the speeder up to get Raymond's deer. but it was so far away had to leave it up there overnight.
5th raymond don't feel good they brought his big deer in.
6th Raymond went to see a Dr. Ray taken Midge to the hsopital we had a big breakfast before they left. I fried apples Mr.s Forst made fried potatoes and I made biscuits we fried steak.
7th Midge went to the hospital at 7. Maxie and Pat came over to hunt about 7 Melitha and It aken Maxies car in to see Midge we stayed with her all night or till 2
8th MARNE ENTERS THE WORLD!!
The baby was born at 2 oclock they call her Marne. I tried to call Faye in Oregon Melithan and I got home at 4 oclock.
11 Maxie and Pat hunted all day.
Midge and I went to see Midge. George got a deer.
12 Ray went to see Midge.
15 Faye came about 7 oclock her Ray and I went to see Midge. I got a letter from Warren he is in Dutch Harbor Alaska.
16th Faye and I went after Midge and the baby.
17th Elma and Earl went to town to move.
18th The men went hunting. George killed one. Midge's baby sleeps all the time. Have to wake her up to feed her.

NOVEMBER
1 Elma and Earl moved to Shelton.
2 Midge take the baby to the Dr to get a check up.
3 I got two letters from Warren mailed in Centralia he sent them from Dutch Harbor by >> Can't read

6th Golden came up from Oregon said John was in the hospital in Portland.
8th Midge and I went to Chehalis. It rained a week and never stopped.
13 Elma and Earl moved to Montesano.
15th George went to Doe Heaven had good luck.
16th Midge and Ray was here for supper.
18th Ray and George quit Saginaw.
19th Ray went back to work but George didn't
20th George left for Oregon. Melitha, Midge and I took him to Montesano to get the bus
21 Elma and Earl came over Ronald and I went home with them and stayed all night.
22 We had dinner at Elma's then came home
24 Had supper at Midge's.
27 Thanksgiving everybody had dinner at home. Ronald and I had lunch at home. The Rationed coffeed 1 pound every 5 weeks.
27th Ray didn't work so went went to Oregon to see Faye. had dinner at Lillie's and stopped at Hasses for awhile. Got to Fayes at 6
28 Ray and Midge went to Valsetz had supper at the cookhouse. George is working at VValsetz. We slept at Herb King.
29 We left Valsetz at 11 for home. Got to Faye and she had the best dinner had chicken sweet potatoes. and cake everything good to eat got home at 9.
30th Midge taken the baby in for 6 week check up The last day you can get gas without a ration card 4 gallons a week.
DECEMBER
2nd Got word that Ray Damron died from having teeth pulled. George came home from Valsetz
3rd Raymond, George, Melitha and I went to Chehalis
4th Ray's funeral was at Mossyrock at 2 oclock. Elma and Midge came in Elma's car Jay and Bud came up from Oregon, shut down.on account of snow.
5th Raymond, Charles, Bud each got one.
We all went to Raymond's house they live in Golden's house.
8th Kids went to show I kept the kids.
9th I sent Warren a package stationary and candy
10th Raymond cut his hand sharpening a knife had to go to a Dr.
Had a shower for Virginia at Midge's
16th I sent a box of candy to Gilbert, Keith and Elton.
20 Bud Fay and Melithan and Raymond all here for dinner
24 Paul came up. Bud Fay Midge and ray wen tto town got back about dark. Elma and Earl didn't get back. We opened the presents at home. George gave me a ring I got 4 chickens for dinner
Christmas Day
Midge and Ray went to Winlock. Elma and Earl came about noon but left as soon as we had dinner.
26th Paul Bud and Fay went to town.
27th Layed around all day about 8 oclock Wallie called and wanted Bud to go to wrk.
28th It was snowing when we got up Bud and Fay went home George and I went with them. it stormed so the men didn't work for 3 days. 24 inches of snowup in the woods.
I came to Chehalis to lillies on the bus. I stayed with Dad, lillie and Floydwent visiting

January We layed around all day with Dad.
3 I left Chehalis at 10 on the bus got to Aberdeen at 12 went home wiht Mrs Dallis.
4 Rachels birthday Melitan Midge and I went to town. Dr gave the baby whooping cough shot
9th Ronald and I went to Montesano and stayed all night
10th My birthday Midge and Ray came over to Elmas and we had chicken dinner
11 Midge taken marne for another small pox shot.
12 I got 3 letters from Warren at Dutch Harbor.
13th Midge worked in the cookhouse I kept Marne.
14th Had a shower for Melitha at Midge's Midge and Igave her a bathenette $9.00
15th Stomry weather wind blowing and hailing
16th George came home from Forest Grovetoo much snow. The men here didn't work 5 inches of snow.
17th Awful cold. All the water pipes froze
18th No work everything forze up.
19th 8 inches of snow when we got up snowed all day in the evening was 12 inches of snow.
20th George went to Doe Heaven got one Rayond went to town to get Pal??? was in the hositapl cost him $17. to get out

School started again had to shut down on account of the lights being out 10 inches of snow. Midge, Ray and George went to town. george went to see about his income tax $2700. Hd to pay 188. income tax It started raining on the snow so slick you cant stand up or walk
28 th the men went to work but still have 4-5 inches of snow Sent Warren some flint for his cig lighter George and Raymond went fishing. Raymond got a big steelhead. Warren sent home $180.
George and Bud went fishing George got a big one.George went fishing as soon as breakfast was done Stayed all day no lunch got a big one.

6th Elma and Earl moved back to Brooklyn in The Morley House
7th Melitha 27th birthday we takemour supper over there had a surprise Elma, Earl, Fay Bud George and I Midge Ray Harry and Leona.
8th Lorna Melitha and I went to town I saw Dr Broker he taken som epicturs of my heart and spine. I weigh 105 pounds. George got a big steelhead.
